The KRS Crane midget Kings took part in the annual Chuck Miller Classic lacrosse tournament in Guelph recently. The Kings turned in a solid performance, winning four straight before being taken down in the semifinal bout.
The Kings faced West Durham in their first game and won 4-3. Kole Scott led the team with two goals, while single markers went to Sam Campbell, Jordan Roberts and Michael Montgomery. Assists went to Campbell (1), Roberts (1) and Tyler Burnie (3). Logan Matthews was in net.
Game 2 saw the Kings take on St. Catharines, where they won 5-2. Points went to Scott (2 g,2a), Carson Keddy (2g), Ethan Quarrington (1g), Campbell (1a), Burnie (1a) and Montgomery (1a). Cam Murphy earned the win in net.
In the quarter-final game, the Kings faced off against Mississauga and won 8-7. Point getters were Burnie (3g), Roberts (2g,1a), Campbell (1g,1a), Scott (1g,2a), Brett Castellani (1a), Parker Twyman (1a), Ashtyn Vernon (1a) and Matthews (1a). Quarrington scored the game-winning goal during sudden-death overtime. Netminding duties were shared by Matthews and Murphy.
After earning a spot in the semifinal game, the Kings went head to head with host team Guelph. The back-and-forth contest went to sudden-death overtime. Murphy kept the Kings in the game with a stellar performance in net, but the Guelph team won 8-7. Points were earned for the Kings by Scott (3g,1a), Roberts (2g,1a), Burnie (1g), Twyman (1a), Campbell (2a), Vernon (1a) and Castellani (2a).
