Reflecting on Our Progress: The Foundation We've Built
Before we dive into the specifics of our 2025 plan, it’s important to take a moment to celebrate the progress we’ve made together. Over the past seasons, our association has grown not just in skill, but in their love for the game. From early learning experiences to thrilling moments, we’ve seen our players develop into confident and passionate athletes. This momentum is exactly what we’re building on as we move forward into 2025.
The 2025 Plan: Major & Minor Teams for U9 & U11
1. Creating More Opportunities for Player Development
For the 2025 season, our plan is to run both Major and Minor teams in the U9 and U11 divisions. We feel this approach will give every player the chance to play the game at their highest potential. Whether a player is just beginning or has a bit more experience, both Major and Minor teams will offer the appropriate level of challenge and skill development.
With these two distinct teams per division, players will get more opportunities to be involved in all aspects of the game. They'll have more time with the ball in their stick, more chances to develop decision-making skills, and more moments to contribute to their team’s success. This structure ensures that each athlete gets the right amount of exposure and experience to continue growing throughout the season.
2. Strengthening the Orillia Kings’ Legacy
This plan also reflects our commitment to growing the game of box lacrosse in Orillia. By creating two teams per division (U9 & U11), we’re not only giving our players more opportunities to compete, but we’re also ensuring that the Orillia Kings continue to represent the best of lacrosse in the region. We believe that with a solid foundation of skill and teamwork, the future of our box lacrosse program will only continue to thrive.
