The Jim Wilson Orillia
Kings bantam lacrosse team got their season started on a positive note last
week picking up a pair of wins.
In the home opener the team defeated Barrie 8 - 2. The Kings played an incredible pressure defence, making it challenging for Barrie to establish much of an offensive threat. Carson Bussieres led the team on the score sheet with 1 goal and three assists. Other point getters were Noah Quarrington (2g, 1a), Gabe Neely (1g, 2a), Tristin Gollan (1g) Ty Collins (1g, 1a), Ashton Twyman (1g), Jesse Ashkewe (1g), Liam McCrimmon (2a), Jack Marwick (1a) and Ben Trumble (1a). Camden Matthews and Harry Leeman shared the game in net and came up with several big saves to hold Barrie to just two goals.
The Kings hit the road to defeat Alliston 9 - 0 in what turned out to be a rough game. The lopsided event saw eight different goal scorers in the game. Ashkewe picked up a pair of goals and other goals scorers were Aidan Colebrook, McCrimmon, Collins, Busseires, Gollan, Quarington, and Cole Rassmussen. Tyler Koch picked up a pair of assists as did Collins. Rassumsen had the other assist on the night. Matthews and Leeman again shared the netminding duties to earn the shutout.
